Who needs friends when you can have shoes?

Adapting your summer clothes to winter

with one comment

We all have those cute summer dresses or sandals we wish we could wear all year long. Well, the thing is, you can, as long as you layer them properly. Key items for making your summer wardrobe last throughtout the colder season are thick wool hosiery, cardigans and blazers and scarfs.

For example, I wore a gorgeous floral dress from Warehouse’s summer collection today. It would have been way too cold to wear it on it’s own, and it would have looked extremely acward. However, combined with a black blazer, wool tights and a scarf, it looks very appropriate. Same goes for other summer items. Wear your ripped baggy denim shorts with tights for that Alexander Wang style, or match strappy sandals with socks.

Don’t forget that as early as in the spring, the fall collections are already out. Even if you’re not the kind of a girl to follow the fashion weeks, by the time the summer sales start, all of the fashion magazines are talking of the fall/winter trends. This is the time for some bargains. Always ask yourself whether the trend will continue through fall when buying a summer item, especially if it’s pricey. If you also stick to darker colours, your buy is definetely a hit.
